Meet Our Team in Fredericton & Minto

Crystal has been part of our team since 1981, when she joined the dispensary staff. She became a licensed optician in 1986 and became our assistant dispensary manager shortly after that. Crystal was appointed manager in 1988.

Mary is the Dispensing Team Lead at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear, where she supports  the team in their day-to-day work and helps create a smooth, positive experience for both  staff and patients. As a go-to resource in the clinic, she enjoys keeping things organized  and running efficiently. 

With over 14 years in eye care, Mary’s favourite part of her role is helping create a  supportive, welcoming environment where both patients and team members can thrive.  She is especially passionate about sharing knowledge and helping patients better  understand their vision and eyewear. 

Mary’s style leans classic, but she also loves incorporating colour into her frame choices.  Outside the clinic, she enjoys reading, crafting, baking, and spending time with her family  (and her husky, Cookie, and cat, Boots). Her outlook is simple: no worries. 

Amy is the Clinical Services Team Lead and a Contact Lens Technician at Spectrum  Eyecare & Eyewear, bringing decades of experience and leadership to the team. She plays  a central role in keeping clinical operations running smoothly while supporting both  patients and team members throughout the day. 

Known as the go-to person for answers, Amy has a gift for balancing organization with  adaptability—keeping everything flowing even in the busiest moments. She especially  loves helping patients succeed with contact lenses for the first time, sharing in their  excitement and sense of accomplishment. 

Amy’s background includes working with the Red Cross in home and respite care, as well  as teaching Sunday school, experiences that reflect her deeply caring and community focused nature. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors,  and volunteering in her community. 

She leads with kindness and believes in treating everyone with patience and  understanding—because everyone is going through something you may not see.

With nearly three decades in eye care, Charlene Byers brings a wealth of experience and a  genuine passion for helping people feel their best. As an Optician at Spectrum Eyecare &  Eyewear, she supports patients with their eyewear needs, from selecting frames to  ensuring the perfect fit. 

Charlene’s favourite part of her work is choosing and fitting eyewear — and seeing the  reaction when patients pick up their new glasses. She’s known for making people feel  special, taking the time to understand both their vision needs and personal style. 

Her eyewear preferences lean bold and colourful, with a love for cat-eye shapes and  modern transitions. Outside the clinic, Charlene enjoys reading, gardening, oil painting,  and spending time with her family (and her cat, Oreo). She lives by the idea that there’s  always something new to learn each day. 

Laura Firth is a Licensed Optician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear with nearly a decade of  experience in optical care. She supports patients with everything from choosing their  perfect frame and the ideal lenses for them, to adjustments, repairs, and prescription  verification, helping ensure every pair of glasses fits and functions just right. 

Laura’s favourite part of the job is helping people truly see (and love their eyewear while  they’re at it). Whether it’s finding the perfect frame or fixing a pair of glasses someone  thought was beyond repair, she enjoys making a meaningful difference in each patient’s  day. 

She has a strong appreciation for bold, colourful frames, with favourites like Inface and  Woody’s. Outside the clinic, Laura enjoys weightlifting, spending time with her family, and  cozy “spa nights” at home with her daughter. 

Sandy Drummond is an Optical Technician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear with over 20  years of experience helping patients find frames they truly love. From dispensing and  adjustments to inventory and patient care, she plays a key role in keeping things running  smoothly. 

Sandy’s favourite part of the job is working directly with patients — especially helping them  find the perfect frame and seeing their appreciation when everything comes together.  Known for her sense of style, quick fixes, and great sense of humour, she brings both  expertise and energy to the team. 

She enjoys keeping up with new trends, especially the latest transition lenses and colour  options. Outside of work, Sandy loves crafting, sewing, and spending time with her family  and her dog, Reagan. Her approach is simple: look for the positives and make the  experience enjoyable. 

Michelle Chamberlain is an Optical Technician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear, where she  supports patients with orders, adjustments, and day-to-day optical needs. She enjoys  connecting with people and making each visit a positive experience. 

Michelle is known for her friendly personality and her ability to make patients smile — sometimes with a little humour and lighthearted conversation. For her, the best part of the  job is helping brighten someone’s day. 

Her eyewear style is practical and durable, focusing on comfort and everyday wear.  Outside the clinic, Michelle enjoys spending time at home with her family and keeping life  simple. Her approach to work and life reflects her personality: warm, easygoing, and  always focused on making people feel good. 

Lynn Tompkins is a Lab Technician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear with an impressive 37 years of experience in eye care. She plays a key behind-the-scenes role in edging lenses and ensuring each pair of glasses is prepared with precision and care.

Known for her efficiency and attention to detail, Lynn helps ensure that every patient receives eyewear that meets the highest standards. Her work may happen out of sight, but it plays an essential role in the patient experience. 

Outside of work, Lynn enjoys relaxing by the bonfire, spending time with her dog, and  tackling a good mystery. She’s also a fan of classic rock — especially AC/DC. Her practical  advice for patients: always rinse your glasses lenses before cleaning to keep them in great condition. 

Pamela Fallon Thornley is the Accounts Manager at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear and has  been a steady, trusted presence on the team for over 30 years. She handles the behind the-scenes work that keeps the clinic running smoothly day to day. 

Pam is known as the team’s go-to problem solver. Whether it’s a complex issue or a small  detail that needs attention, she brings a thoughtful, solutions-focused approach to  everything she does. While much of her work supports the team internally, that impact  carries through to every patient experience. 

Detail-oriented and dependable, Pam takes pride in keeping things organized and on track.  Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, and walking  her dog. She also has a love for classic films and movie trivia—and believes that even in  busy seasons, it’s important to find moments to laugh 

Karen Cook is part of the clinical support and administrative team at Spectrum Eyecare &  Eyewear, where she helps keep both patient care and clinic operations running smoothly.  With a background in medical and dental office administration as well as business  technology, Karen brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to everything she does. 

Before working in healthcare, Karen worked as a server—an experience that shaped her  ability to anticipate needs, stay attentive, and go above and beyond for the people she  supports. Today, she carries that same mindset into her role, always looking for ways to  improve processes and make things easier for both patients and her teammates. 

Karen is known for her driven, take-initiative personality. She’s someone her coworkers  rely on to step in, figure things out, and get things done efficiently. She takes pride in being  dependable and making sure no detail gets missed. 

Outside of work, Karen enjoys quiet time reading, watching movies, and spending time  outdoors—especially near water or in nature. She values meaningful conversations with  family and friends and finds inspiration in simple moments like sunsets, sunrises, and  natural beauty.

Angie Shaw is a Technician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear with over 14 years of  experience in eye care. She plays an important role in supporting patients throughout their  visit, always focused on understanding their needs and helping create a positive,  comfortable experience. 

Angie is known for her friendly, personal approach and her ability to make people laugh.  She genuinely enjoys connecting with patients and finds the most satisfaction in knowing  she’s helped make someone’s day a little better. 

Before joining Spectrum, Angie worked as a civilian instructor teaching cadets—an  experience that shaped her approachable and supportive style. Outside of the clinic, she  enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that’s camping, cooking, reading, or relaxing  around a bonfire. She also loves crocheting and giving back to others, and is inspired by  people who volunteer their time to help those around them. 

Her outlook is simple and grounding: always find the silver lining. 

Erin Marshall is a key part of the service team at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear, where she  helps patients feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive. From check-in  to insurance processing, Erin keeps things running smoothly while making time for  meaningful conversations along the way. 

Known for her warm, talkative nature, Erin has a natural ability to connect with patients  and make them feel important. She believes that even small interactions can make a big  difference in someone’s experience. 

Erin has been with Spectrum for five years and was originally introduced to the clinic  through a friend—something she’s grateful for every day. Outside of work, she enjoys  reading, spending time with her family, and cheering on her son at the hockey rink. She  also values simple traditions, like Saturday mornings spent together over breakfast.

Mariah is an Optometric Assistant at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear who plays a key role in  both pre-testing and administrative support. Known for her kindness and approachability  she helps ensure patients feel cared for from start to finish. 

Her favourite part of the job is working alongside her team and creating a positive  environment for both patients and coworkers. Mariah is especially passionate about  making people feel seen and heard during their visit, bringing a calm and attentive  presence to every interaction. 

She has an eye for elegant, stylish frames and appreciates designs that feel both classic  and modern. Outside of work, Mariah enjoys spending time with her family and values the  simple moments that matter most. She believes that everything happens for a reason— and brings that grounded, thoughtful perspective into her work each day

Tracey Lacey is often one of the first friendly faces patients meet at Minto Optometry  Clinic, Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear’s Minto location. With over 20 years of experience,  she helps welcome patients, guide them through pre-testing, and keep everything running  smoothly behind the scenes. 

Tracey’s favourite part of her work is connecting with patients and helping them feel  relaxed and comfortable from the moment they walk in. Known for her calm, organized,  and caring approach, she brings a steady, reassuring presence to the clinic. 

Before joining the optical field, Tracey worked as a dental assistant for 18 years, building a  strong foundation in patient care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her  family, going to her camp, and listening to country music. Her personal motto is simple:  find the positive.

Tasha MacFarlane is an Optometric Assistant at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear who brings  energy, efficiency, and a whole lot of personality to her role. From pre-testing and front  desk support to keeping communication flowing, she helps ensure patients move  smoothly through their visit. 

Tasha is known for her speed and ability to keep things running on time, but what really  stands out is her connection with patients. She loves sharing a laugh and enjoys when  patients ask for her opinion—it’s all part of creating a comfortable, welcoming experience. 

With a background as a hairstylist, Tasha has a natural eye for style and detail, which  shows in her love for classic, lightweight frames (especially anything with a pop of pink).  Outside of work, she spends her time coaching her daughter’s soccer team and staying  active with her family and pets. Her philosophy is simple: if you’re not having fun, you’re  doing it wrong. 

Sabina Marco is an Optical Technician at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear who brings both  energy and care to her role. From dispensing and adjustments to repairs and keeping the  space organized, she helps ensure everything runs smoothly for patients and the team. 

She’s known for her go-getter energy — especially when it comes to keeping frames clean,  organized, and looking their best (earning her the nickname “Tinkerbell”). Sabina’s  favourite part of her work is helping patients choose frames and seeing their smiles when  they pick up their new glasses. 

Outside the clinic, Sabina enjoys woodworking, gardening, baking, and spending time with  her three sons. She also loves staying active with outdoor activities like hiking and skiing.  Her outlook is all about enjoying the moment — because life isn’t a rehearsal

Hala Nasir is part of the optical and clinical team at Spectrum Eyecare & Eyewear, where  she helps patients with everything from choosing frames to helping them arrange their next  visit. She loves helping people find eyewear that not only improves their vision but also  reflects their personality. 

One of Hala’s favourite moments in the clinic is when a patient finds a pair of glasses that  truly feels like them. Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels a  sense of belonging is at the heart of how she works.

Around the office, Hala is known as the unofficial “office DJ,” keeping the clinic energized  with her Spotify playlists. Her personal frame style? Anything pink. She believes eyewear  should be both functional and expressive.
