How Often Should Adults Get Eye Exams?
We follow the Canadian Association of Optometrists’ guidelines for adult and senior eye exams.
- Adults 20–64 should receive an eye examination every 2 years.
- Adults 65 and older should receive a yearly eye exam.
- Adults living with diabetes or other conditions should receive a yearly eye exam.
Regular visits allow us to catch issues early and help you keep your vision sharp for the long haul.
What Happens During an Eye Exam?
Your eye exam is more than just a vision check. During your appointment, one of our friendly optometrists will:
- Review your medical and ocular history and any visual concerns you may have
- Ask about your lifestyle, activities, and work environment
- Check your visual acuity
- Test for signs of common eye diseases and conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and dry eye
- Assess your overall eye health
- Update your prescription if needed
